Our story

We are Romain and Alexandre Lecat: brothers, bakers and entrepreneurs from France with a passion for high-quality bread. We fell in love with Los Angeles over many years of visiting and eventually living in the city, but we always missed the taste of bread from our homeland. In the land of dreams, we decided to chase our own by starting an authentic French artisan bakery. We went home to Paris, learned the trade at l’École de Boulangerie et de Pâtisserie de Paris, and returned with the finest quality flour we could find from the fields of France. Now, with the opening of our very first Sweet Wheat Bakery storefront in Redondo Beach, we’re opening our doors to you, our neighbor, to an authentic and delicious French bakery and bistro experience.

Open 7 days a week and offering a wide range of savory and sweet, from almond croissants to beef bourguignon, we hope Sweet Wheat becomes a must-have during all hours of your day.

We have personally tested and tasted every item on the menu to perfection, with each and every Sweet Wheat baked good hand-crafted by artisan French bakers on-site. With a commitment to quality and taste, we source only the highest-quality non-GMO grain from France; smooth, complex coffee from a local roaster; and rich cheese and meats from both local and international culinary regions. For you wine connoisseurs, we’ve hand-selected some of our favorite vins from French vineyards to round out any meal you enjoy here with us. We look forward to filling your tables with the same authentic and delicious French food we grew up loving!
